We like to make this sweet and simple french toast recipe every year during the holidays, but really it's a great recipe for any time of the year! It's so easy to whip up and you just might have these ingredients at home already. We like to serve it with a side of scrambled eggs, bacon or both!
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
1/2 cup milk
salt to taste (i use just a dash)
1 tablespoon butter (to grease the pan)
6 slices of bread
Whisk together the eggs, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg in shallow dish or bowl. Stir in milk.
Dip bread in egg mixture, turning to coat both sides evenly.
Lightly grease a nonstick griddle or skillet with butter and cook the bread slices on medium heat until browned on both sides.
Add some powdered sugar on top, drizzle with maple syrup and enjoy!
